Terms of service

Last updated: 7 August 2026

The short version

Capsignal lets founders publish a Beacon and send short monthly updates to investors who chose to follow them. Use it for your own company, only email people who agreed to hear from you, and don't abuse the service. We'll keep it running and won't sell your data.

Your account

  • You need an account to publish a Beacon or send updates. Investors do not — following a company takes an email address and nothing else.
  • You're responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your password to yourself.
  • You must be able to enter a contract in your country, and you must represent the company whose Beacon you publish.

The one rule that matters: consent

Only add people who agreed to hear from you — someone who scanned your code, gave you their address, or asked to be kept in the loop. Purchased lists, scraped addresses, and conference attendee lists you did not collect yourself are not allowed, and uploading one is grounds for immediate termination.

This isn't politeness. Every update sent to someone who didn't ask for it damages delivery for every other founder on the platform.

Acceptable use

Don't use Capsignal to:

  • Send anything misleading, fraudulent, or unlawful, including false traction figures.
  • Impersonate another company or person.
  • Send bulk unsolicited email, malware, or phishing.
  • Break, probe, or overload the service, or work around its limits.
  • Resell or white-label the service without written permission.

Your content

What you publish stays yours. You give us the permission we need to host it, show it on your Beacon, and deliver it by email to your subscribers — nothing more. You confirm you have the right to publish what you post, including any figures you share.

You can export your subscriber list and delete your account at any time.

If you're an investor

You never need an account. Following a company means that company can email you updates. Every email carries a working unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately, and unsubscribing from one company does not affect any other. Capsignal does not email you on a founder's behalf beyond the updates you subscribed to.

Not investment advice

Capsignal is a communication tool. Nothing on a Beacon or in an update is an offer to sell securities, a solicitation, or investment advice, and we do not verify the figures founders publish. Do your own diligence.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Capsignal available and to warn you before anything changes in a way that would break how you use it. We may change or discontinue features, and we may update these terms — material changes will be announced by email to account holders. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.

Suspension

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, particularly the consent rule, or that puts email delivery at risk for other founders. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.

Warranties and liability

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost fundraising opportunities or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months or USD 100.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law, and disputes will be handled by the Norwegian courts.
